Who Stole the Future?

We talk a lot about what we're building. But what about why, and what kind of world it's actually creating? This session with Fred Destin, founder of Stride.VC and former GP at Accel and Accomplice, lifts the conversation to the systems level. Drawing on philosophy, Buddhism, and the simple act of paying attention, Fred will lead an honest exploration of our motivations, our state of mind, and what it really means to be building at this moment in history. Expect a different kind of conversation.

A Deeper Look at the Kind of World We Could Be Building

We are all passionate about innovation, entrepreneurship, and progress. But have you ever stopped to wonder about the kind of world we are actually building?

This session elevates the conversation to the systems level, while also diving into our own motivations and state of mind in this chaotic, fascinating world on the cusp of the singularity. Drawing on lessons from philosophy, Buddhism, psychedelics, and the simple act of paying attention, Fred will invite us into a deeper, more honest conversation about what we are all here to do.

Your Facilitator: Fred Destin

Fred is the founder of Stride.VC, an artisan seed fund based in London. A former General Partner at Accel and Accomplice, he partnered early with founders of companies including Zoopla (IPO), Deliveroo (IPO), Integral Ad Science (IPO), PillPack (acq. Amazon), and The Currency Cloud (acq. Visa). Fred has worked with over a hundred startup founders on their pitching and fundraising processes and has personally raised five funds. He is deeply passionate about the craft of company building from the earliest days. Dissenters welcome.

What We'll Cover

  • The systems-level forces shaping the world entrepreneurs are building
  • What philosophy, Buddhism, and lived experience teach us about navigating uncertainty
  • Our own motivations, state of mind, and what we are really here to do

What You'll Walk Away With

  • A broader lens for thinking about the impact of what you are building
  • Greater clarity on your own motivations as a founder
  • A deeper, more honest relationship with the chaos and possibility of this moment
